The top 25 best albums of the decade according to Nice Guys Records par Baptiste

The second decade of the new millennium has come to an end, an opportunity to take a look at the best of the last 10 years with the friends of Nice Guys Records. Here is a non-exhaustive top 25 of the best independent albums of the decade fellows.

Nick Cave : Push The Sky Away
There is still time to (re)discover the chef's work.

Sufjan Stevens : Carrie & Lowell

Intimidating, personal and profoundly fair. Hyper sweeps this disk. If you understand English, I hear it's even better.

King Krule : The OOZ
Inducted King of England after only two albums. Few, very few interviews. Very classy.

Connan Mockasin : Caramel
Twisted, sensual and hyper wanker, 3 classics in one decade, that's a lot of work for one man.

Mac Demarco : 2
A decade and 6 or 7 records later, check yourself on Wikipedia if it makes you kiffer, Mac has put the Strokes, the Arctic Monkeys and the other boring guitar bands and perfectos The Kooples on mute mode. Gratias maximas!

Tame Impala : Currents
There will be before and after Currents. Once again, we let the nerds debate Kevin Parker's indie cred.

Babe Rainbow : The Babe Rainbow
A lot of posers in the indie game. Not them, not for a second. Caring, friendly and bon vivants, they produce excellent & authentic surf music slash trippy pop albums.
Big up to these market gardeners, musicians and young fathers.

Mount Kimbie : Cold Spring Fault Less Youth
Dancing, screaming and crying at the same time. Kai and Dominic know how to do that oklm.

Frank Ocean : Blonde
One summer evening in 2012, I discover Thinking about U while delivering sushi. Summer 2016, Frank returns. It's still as ingenious and new, hat (Supreme)!

Kevin Morby : Singing Saw
In 2016, the guy stops updating on Pole Emploi and establishes himself as one of the big shots on the indie scene. (Cowboy) hat!

Unknown Mortal Orchestra : Multi Love
Ruban Nielson is married with children. He enters into a relationship with a third party and offers to move into the marital homeon American soil. 1 year of poly-love, an unrenewed visa and many broken hearts. This is the genesis of this damn jewel.

Whitney : Light Upon The Lake
Before 2016, the trumpet was one of the most cheesy on this indie pop/folk format. With this first opus Light Upon The Lake, the Chicago bon vivants have reopened the field of possibilities.

Hanni El Khatib : Will The Guns Come Out
"He's got a good style, I like his rockabilly. And he's got a good haircut. "Dan Auerbach, a.k.a Jean-Michel Banalité, also known as half of the Black Keys in an interview with the Express in 2013.

The Rapture : In The Grace of your love
Nothing after 2011, it leaves an old bitter taste in the mouth. We note the production with small onions signed Philippe Zdar. A reformation at the beginning of 2019 followed by two concerts, what can we expect from the leader, Luke Jenner, sublime fdp who sabotaged his own band?
An album? The guy owes us that much.

Pond : The Weather
The tasmanians carried by Nick Allbrook have released 6 albums this decade, hard to choose even if "Weather" seems to be the most accomplished.

Allah Las : Allah Las
In 2012, the Californian band Allah Las unveiled their debut eponymous album, which blossomed well into the 60's. The album, which was released in the summer of 2012, was a great success. With tracks with ultra-effective riffs such as "Catamaran", "Long journey" or "Sandy", the Californians quickly rose to the rank of ambassadors of surf music.

Khruangbin : Con Todo El Mundo
2018 is the year Khruangbin broke the YouTube algorithm with "Con Todo El Mundo."

Metronomy : The English Riviera
At the beginning of the decade the young English band Metronomy released their third album. A decade wasn't enough to make "The English Riviera", a marvel of electro pop full of hits like "The Look" or "The Bay", run out of steam.

Homeshake : Fresh Air
Mac D guitarist takes flight in 2014 with "In the Shower". Then follows "Midnight Snack" in 2015 and the delicious "Fresh Air" in 2017 and the less convincing "Helium" in 2019.

Juan Wauters : Who, me?
A wacky modern poet, the Uruguayan living in New York is unique in his genre, just like "Who, me?" which is best enjoyed in the shade of a coconut tree.

Hector Gachan : Untitled '91
Hector and his "Untitled '91" couldn't be prevented from slipping into this non-exhaustive selecta.

Lcd Soundsystem : This Is Happening
James Murphy or direct descendant David Byrne couldn't escape this top

Mild Orange : Foreplay
Melting melodies, sexy grooves and soothing beats, Mild Orange breaked the internet in
2018 and will continu to provide the good this new decade

Devendra Barnhart : Mala
The Venezuelan maestro has not stopped regaling us with his poetry this decade

Her's : Songs of Her's
We end with a tribute to Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading who formed the duo Her's. Their tragic disappearance in a car accident this year marked the indie scene. The Liverpool duo, then in full explosion, had already left an indelible mark with the excellent "Songs of Her's".
