Leon Vynehall made his mark this 2014. The British DJ/Producer has been in the know since 2010, having deejayed in Brighton, the mecca of UK underground. He rose to success with the AKA AKA ROAR and his buddy Lorca. Two years later, he released his first EP "MAUVE" (2012) on Well Rounded Housing Project. Strongly influenced by 90's hip hop and disco, the artist continues to extract early inspirations in his present work.
A pivotal moment for his career, Vynehall's 2014 release on 3024, "Music for the Uninvited" is pure gold. The EP pays reference to his life in 2011 when he moved back in with his parents. During this time, he reconnected with the music of his past and explored the vast collection of his mother's funk cassettes. The soul of his childhood radiates in this 36-minute journey of bliss.
House style synths and percussion dub intoxicate while maintaining a sense of gentleness. This EP is arguably one of the most brilliant albums produced this past year. Disclosed are tracks such as "Inside the Deku Tree" a production inspired by The Legend Of Zelda, as well as "It's Just (House of Dupree)" and "Be Brave, Clench Fists" a song reminiscent of "Deep Burnt" by Pepe Bradock. Paying homage to his roots, this gem of an album marked a powerful return for Vynehall and has left us anticipating what's yet to come!
